Another Reason To Consider Third-Party Support Providers

By Joseph B. Kappernick

Many companies turn to independent and certified third-party support providers because they offer comparable support service at a much lower cost than most vendors. This is usually reason enough to decline the vendor support and go with a third-party provider. But if you are still not convinced that a third-party is a viable support alternative, there is another reason you should consider.

Vendors will often stop offering support on products that are still functioning in the network and have many good years left in them. Opting for third-party support will save you time and money if the vendor decides it is time to phase out service on products, like hardware, you have purchased.

Hardware items like routers and switches can be used for many years without requiring replacement. In spite of this fact, vendors continuously end support for many hardware products so that they can increase profits on the sale of new items and upgrades. When vendor provided support ends, businesses must make a choice between costly upgrades or using un-supported equipment- neither of which is ideal.

Free yourself from this vicious cycle by choosing a third-party provider who can offer support services on hardware long after the vendor has stopped. This decision will not only save money on your service agreement, but will continue to cut costs if you need to add or replace items that are part of your current systems. This is possible because third-party providers will stock up on products right before they are discontinued so they are available to you at a low price if you ever need them.

Too many businesses today lose money by discarding perfectly good equipment when the vendor stops support service to make room for the next generation. Say "no" to unnecessary upgrades by choosing a third-party support option that can provide low-cost service and extend the life of your systems.
